Helping women to feel safe during the winter in Tameside

A local martial arts expert is helping women to feel safe during the winter by hosting a free ladies-only self-protection workshop.

A coach at Cobra FMA in Hyde, Daniel Powell knows just how important it is for people to feel safe and equipped with the knowledge to look after themselves.

The threat of women’s safety has been a key subject in the media, especially over the last few years.

The murder of Sarah Everard shone a spotlight on a culture of violence against women and girls, calling for reform across the nation.

Now, locally, people are standing up to take action, and it’s all starting in Hyde.

Daniel will be hosting a self-protection workshop from 10am-11am at Grafton Centre on Saturday 15 October.

Ladies are free to join this session, all you need to do is book with Daniel by calling 0747 042 6677.

In this programme, Daniel says he will go over the key skills needed to ensure the community feel safe, such as power talking and avoidance techniques.

Suffering at the hands of bullies at a young age, Daniel took up martial arts to feel confident within himself. He now provides this service to the array of youngsters that he coaches.

Daniel often instils protection skills within his classes and is looking to open this up to the wider community with his workshop.

Feel equipped with the knowledge to stay safe this winter by joining this free seminar.
