Hyde dance group raise funds for local theatre

A Hyde-based dance centre raised hundreds of pounds for a local theatre, where they were the first group to perform there in 18 months.

Nearly 30 students from Artsync Dance - aged from three to 50+ from Hyde and surrounding areas - took to the stage earlier this month. They were "very proud and honoured" to be the first live production at Hyde Festival Theatre since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson for ArtSync Dance added: "We arranged a fundraising show to support the Theatre as the charity has been severely affected by the forced closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They closed their doors to all shows and productions in March 2020 and subsequently lost large amounts of income.

"Artsync couldn't use our usual venue as they too closed their doors to hirers. But thank goodness Hyde Festival Theatre opened their doors to us and allowed us to use the stage area for our classes for a short period when we were released from lockdown.

"As a thank you to everyone at Hyde Festival Theatre, we decided to donate all takings from seat sales and raffle ticket sales etc."

In total, Artsync managed to raise £613.93 for the Corporation Street venue.
