A year 3 teacher from Greenfield Primary Academy is celebrating after being accepted onto the Apple Distinguished Educator Program.
Stuart Plaskitt passed the challenging application process by creating a video which showcased how he uses technology to engage and improve rates of progress in the classroom.
Mr Plaskitt highlighted how iPads can be used to break down barriers some groups of children can face in the classroom, along with how children can use apps like iMovie to summarise and present their learning in a fun and exciting way.
He said: "It is a real honour to be accepted onto the program. I have always believed that the innovative use of technology in the classroom can have a long-term impact on a child's achievements.
"I am not only excited to share what we do at Greenfield with the wider Apple community, but also to learn from other educators around the world."
Greenfield Primary Academy is part of The Harmony Trust where all Key Stage Two children (Years 3-6) are loaned an individual iPad and given access to Microsoft Office, as well as a variety of educational platforms to help children to enhance their learning and prepare for the digital world.
Antony Hughes (CEO, The Harmony Trust) continued: "We are delighted to see the fantastic work at Greenfield Primary Academy being recognised. This is testament to Mr Plaskitt's exciting use of technology in the classroom and exactly what we envisioned when we launched our HTML (Harnessing Technology, Maximising Learning) strategy in 2021. Technology is there to complement and enhance our existing excellence in teaching and learning and we are very proud of his achievement."
