World Book Day might officially have taken place last Thursday, but one Hyde school has postponed the event until Friday (12 March).
With lockdown still in place last week, many pupils who would normally dress up for school as their favourite literary characters were encouraged to join in the day remotely or send in a picture.
But not wanting to deprive youngsters of the opportunity to share their favourite book characters in school with their classmates, Discovery Academy in Hattersley will be holding its very own World book Day on Friday (12 March) instead.
The annual charity event was first celebrated in 1995 in the UK and is now enjoyed in more than 100 countries worldwide. Every child in full-time education in the UK is given a voucher to be spent on books.
