Hyde school receive valuable resource thanks to Tameside Rotary

Year 6 pupils at Greenfield Academy who received their dictionaries before moving on to secondary school next year.

Tameside Rotary has presented 61 pupils in Year 6 at Hyde’s Greenfield Academy with a dictionary each.

The presentations were made at their school assembly on Wednesday last week.

Each dictionary given had been personalised and signed by the Rotary President.

Greenfield is the fourteenth School in Tameside to have been included in Rotary’s ‘DICTIONARY4LIFE’ project during the last few years.

By encouraging the intelligent and self guided use of dictionaries, learners become more independent.

The dictionaries are especially written for the Year 6 pupils’ age group.

As pupils move on to secondary schools, it is hoped they will find their dictionaries useful and keep them for life.

Tameside Rotary Dictionaries for life co-ordinator Joyce Howarth MBE said: “We wish them all an enjoyable and happy new era of their education.”
