Make a donation and get a tour of Ray’s war room

Tameside resident Ray Fricker has spent years collecting hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from the First and Second World War.  He’s created a ‘war room style museum’ in his family home in Droylsden with machine guns, gas masks, hats, uniforms, radio equipment and much more.

Ray also has an air raid shelter and original siren as well as many more artifacts. This year marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War, with Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 8 May 1945 and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day on August 15, 1945.

Ray said: “I’m giving one lucky person a chance to win a free tour of my private collection of WW1 and WW2 memorabilia on Saturday, May 10, two days after the VE Day anniversary.”

To commemorate this anniversary the fortunate winner will also get to witness the original WW2 siren in action. Also on the day, I will be letting my mortar off and there will be a ferret armoured vehicle for the winner to have a ride in.

The winner won’t go away empty-handed either, they will be the proud owner of an original vintage helmet” To be in with a chance of this fantastic once in a lifetime experience all you have to do is make a donation to Willow Wood Hospice, Ashton under Lyne.

Ray says “The amount you donate to this amazing charity is entirely up to you and the winner will be chosen completely at random by the hospice on April 26.”

Willow Wood Hospice is an adult Hospice providing specialist palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, both cancer and non-cancer diagnosis. They provide care, free of charge, and patients, families and their carers are at the centre of everything we do.
