A 19-year-old man was arrested after a stolen car was caught speeding by police in Dukinfield.
Officers came across a Renault Clio (pictured) speeding on Cheetham Hill Road on Sunday (21 March) but, as they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made off.
The officers carried out a quick search of the area and found the vehicle and its occupants on Tennyson Avenue, a Greater Manchester Tameside North and East team spokesperson said.
Two men made off on foot and a chase ensued but, with the help of eagle-eyed neighbours, one of the men was detained and arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
The spokesperson added that the vehicle was confirmed to have false plates and it was seized to allow enquiries to establish its true identity and rightful owner.
