Man arrested on suspicion of assault in Ashton

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in Ashton town centre. 

At around 1pm on Sunday afternoon (9 October), Greater Manchester Police received a report of a male being hit with a bottle on Stamford Street. 

A GMP spokesperson said a male was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for his injuries to be assessed. He has since been bailed.

Eyewitnesses described on social media seeing a man being attacked by three other men. 

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and might have witnessed - or may have footage - of the incident.
