A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 47-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Droylsden.
Greater Manchester Police were called at 1.10am on Friday (6 August) to Redesmere Close to a report of a stabbing.
Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 47-year-old man had been stabbed inside a property.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead a short while later.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
No other injuries have been reported and enquiries are ongoing, GMP have said.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "A man has very sadly lost his life in the early hours of this morning and we've launched a full investigation to piece together the full circumstances surrounding his death.
"Our main priority at this stage is ensuring his next of kin are located and given the full support that they need as they begin to come to terms with this devastating news.
"We currently have one man in custody for questioning but our enquiries will continue and I would encourage anyone who may be holding any information that could assist us to get in touch as a matter of urgency. Even the smallest bit of information could prove vital to our investigation."
