Man stabbed in chest in Hyde

A man has sustained serious injuries after being stabbed in the chest in Hyde.

Police were called to reports of a 'serious assault' on Grange Road North at around 11.55pm on Sunday night (7 May).

When emergency services arrived, they found a man in his 20s had been stabbed and had sustained serious injuries to his chest.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Part of the road was taped off and a forensic tent was in place at the scene on Monday morning.

Inspector Toby Knight, from GMP Tameside district, said: "We do believe that this was an isolated, targeted attack and that the wider community are not at risk. However, there will be an increased police presence over the next few days, to provide that reassurance.

"The investigation is still very much in the early stages, and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident last night or anyone who has any information or CCTV/dashcam/doorbell footage, to contact GMP on 0161 856 9262 quoting log number 4039 of 7/5/2023."

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity – Crimestoppers - anonymously on 0800 555 111.
