Mossley school has been a hive of activity

Pupils at a primary school in Mossley have been inspired by a multitude of activities as they return to the classroom. 

Last week was World Book Day, when children at St George's CE Primary School were able to log on to various online workshops with famous authors and illustrators. 

One was called 'How to Doodle like Tom Gates' with Liz Pichon - the author of Tom Gates - and 'How to write comedy' with Simon James Green, author of Life of Riley. 

Youngsters also participated in 'How to draw historical figures' with Thiago de Moraes, author of Myth Atlas and History Atlas.  

Having been inspired by the session, the parent of a Year 6 child at the school sent Thiago their daughter's picture on Twitter and he replied... 

Among many other workshops, the children also participated in 'Riddles and mysteries' with Lisa Thompson, the author of 'Graveyard Riddle', as well as 'Design a witch' with Katy Birchall, and 'Fantasy World Building' with Vashti Hardy, author of 'Harley Hitch'. 

Over the course of the week, staff at the Stamford Street school recorded 'Masked Reader' videos, where each adult read a story wearing a mask and the children had to guess who the mystery Masked Reader was. On Friday afternoon, all was revealed!

Deputy head teacher Jasmine Walker said the children loved it - and really enjoyed guessing who was who! 

While on Friday, Year 3 pupils went on a search around the school grounds for 'Wally', which they also absolutely loved.  

This week, the school have been holding a Science Week.
