Dedicated runner Shannon Gill is stepping out to run a major race each month this year to raise vital funds for a good cause.
Shannon, from Mossley, is running three marathons, three half-marathons and four 10K runs amongst her 12 planned races to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.
She said: "I never thought I'd make it all the way up to doing a full marathon when I first started out, never mind three in a year.
"When I started running back in 2015, I'd only run about a mile! Now I train by running about three to four times a week; I like to do two short runs during the week and then one or two long runs at the weekend (which can be anything between ten and 20 miles).
"I've done one marathon before, the Manchester Marathon, and I was okay until around 18 miles and then after that I had a bit of a block - I was like 'I'm never doing a marathon again' - but now I've signed up to three."
Shannon added: "They're very addictive and it's all for a good cause too so it's worth it!"
Shannon has already completed Stockport Daffodil 10K in January and the Stockport trial half marathon last month.
Her next race will take place on March 26, which will be the Sheffield half marathon.
As a former member of Mossley Running Club, Shannon said she hopes to rejoin the group again soon as she 'finds it easier running with people than on your own.'
