Mountain rescue help walker who sustained leg injury

A young man who fell whilst out walking near Buckton Castle in Carrbrook was helped by mountain rescue crews.

The man suffered a lower leg injury and had mild hypothermia during the incident on Friday evening (26 February).

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were asked by Greater Manchester Police to assist the man.

Twenty members were on the scene for almost 90 minutes.

A spokesperson for Oldham MRT said: "We got an accurate location via our mapping system and soon had team members on scene who were able to assess the casualty as having a lower leg injury, as well as being mildly hypothermic, due to sitting on the ground for a while.

"After administering pain relief and packaging him on our stretcher, it was then a short, if not technical, carry down to the waiting ambulance.

"Thank you to the family members and friends who kept him warm and guided us in to the location."
