Ashton and Failsworth MP Angela Rayner spread some early festive cheer throughout her constituency as she announced the winner of her annual Christmas Card Competition.
Each year, in the run-up to the festive period, Angela invites schools across Ashton, Droylsden and Failsworth to produce a design that will be made into her official Christmas card.
After sifting through almost 700 entries, Angela decided the overall winner was Miley Kennedy from St Mary’s RC Primary in Failsworth with her drawing of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in the stable.
Second place went to Leo Woolley from Greenside Primary in Droylsden and third place was won by Layton Doheny from The Heys Primary School in Ashton.
Angela said: “School visits are most definitely the best bit of my job and it was wonderful to present Miley with a prize for her wonderful Christmas card design. I will be very proud to send these cards to my colleagues at Westminster, councillors, local businesses, schools, friends and family.
“I would like to give huge thanks to all the children who took part in the competition and spent time working on their designs. I really enjoyed seeing them all and it was really hard to narrow it down to just three.
“The past two years have been so difficult for us all and we are still fighting to stop the spread of the virus, but I have been so heartened by how communities across my constituency have pulled together to support one another.
“I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
