The owners of a Stalybridge pub have been fined more than £3,500 after it twice breached a noise abatement order.
Matthew Crompton pleaded guilty on behalf of himself and the company that runs The Organ on Acres Lane at Tameside Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Crompton apologised for the matter coming to court despite a series of complaints from neighbours, with Tameside Council environmental health officers installing sound monitoring equipment in two nearby homes.
Enforcement officers acted after twice hearing loud music from the pub.
All costs (£1,000) were imposed on The Organ (Stalybridge) Ltd, which was also fined £1,153 with a £461 victim surcharge.
In addition, Mr Crompton of Hazel Road, Stalybridge, was fined a total of £1,153.
He said The Organ's jukebox has since had its volume restricted to prevent sound carrying into the street, while live music will no longer take place at the pub.
Cllr Laura Boyle, Tameside Council’s head of environmental services and neighbourhoods, said: “I am pleased Mr Crompton accepted responsibility and promised there would be no future occurrences.
“Tameside Council wants a positive relationship with all the borough’s businesses and is always ready to work with them to resolve issues or prevent them taking place.
“However, we also have a duty to our residents and will take the necessary action, including prosecution, whenever needed.”
