Paramedics continued strikes on Wednesday (January 11) in the ongoing dispute over pay and staffing levels.
Workers gathered outside the Dukinfield Ambulance Station, on Dewsnap Lane, to show their support and solidarity. This follows a previous round of walk-out strikes in December.
Darren Ravenscroft, a paramedic based in Dukinfield, described the government's pay award as 'unacceptable' and explained the shocking drop in numbers with many leaving the profession each day as they struggle to go on in the current climate.
Cllr Jackie Lane said: "These people are saving lives, not just on a daily basis but on an hourly basis. They work the hours that they have to do and we must support them to get the right conditions. These people will see things that we will never see in our lifetime - and they see them every day."
"Our National Health Service is important because it's for the whole nation, not just for particular people."
