
A 16-year-old boy has been killed and two others injured after a car collided with a lamp post on Droylsden Road, Audenshaw, on Saturday night.
Police arrested the 18-year-old driver, who remains in custody for questioning, stating the 16-year-old had been a passenger in the vehicle.
Emergency services had been called to Droylsden Road, close to its junction with North Road, Audenshaw, at 8pm on Saturday.
Despite the best attempts of officers and paramedics the younger teenager was sadly pronounced dead a short time later, having suffered fatal injuries.
Specialist officers are providing his family with support at this devastating time.
GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the car, described as a white Vauxhall Corsa, and the collision in a busy area of Audenshaw during the evening to get in touch to help their investigation.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV/doorbell footage from the area in the moments before the collision took place.
