A police officer has been seriously injured following the pursuit of a vehicle on cloned licence plates, on Dukinfield Road, Hyde at 12:35pm today, Monday 24 June.
This vehicle is thought to have been involved in a collision where it failed to stop earlier this afternoon.
The officer, who is from GMP's vehicle intercept unit, was transported to hospital, where he remains.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening and he is being supported by colleagues.
Initial indications are that the police vehicle took evasive action to avoid another vehicle which resulted in the collision. The occupants of this car were not injured.
The A627 is currently closed in both directions, from Broadway to Junction Street, with a tent in place while emergency services continue to conduct enquiries and make the area safe.
The search for the original vehicle they were pursuing is continuing.
