Pop-up stall in Ashton market helps residents stand up to hate crime

Tameside Council is reaching out to residents in Ashton Market today (Wednesday) as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week.

Terry Finn from the Community Safety Team will be there and is passionate about encouraging people to report incidents of hate crime.

He added: “We’re trying to keep the conversation around this subject going all year, because I don’t think this is something that should only happen twice a year for national campaigns.

“I do lots of talks at schools, for volunteer groups and in religious groups to show the importance of reporting hate crime. It’s not acceptable behaviour and it needs to change.”
