Reverend David Warner, the Vicar of Mossley, has had a busy week as he explains in his latest column.
This week has had several highlights for me.
On Tuesday I led a short service via Zoom for the residents and staff of Sandon House.
Though we aren’t able to visit in person yet, it was great to join them and chat to residents, catch up with the staff and join together in prayer, chatter and laughter. We owe a huge debt to care staff for their amazing work over the past few months, and their continuing efforts to keep our most vulnerable safe.
On Wednesday I was privileged to bless San Giorgios restaurant in Mossley - the food is amazing (as it is in all our local eateries!).
St George
Anthony’s team did tremendous work during the first lockdown supporting folk with meal preparation.
It’s great to see our businesses getting back on their feet and seeing how delighted people are to be back with them.
As the restaurant is named in honour of St George, I presented them with a picture of St George’s Church - a memento of an opportunity to ask George for his prayers and protection for all who work there and all who visit.
Also on Wednesday I joined the Town Team at our monthly meeting.
They do tremendous work making Mossley a better place to live - from beautiful flowers in our streets to the amazing new art works appearing across the town - team work really does make the dream work!
Schools
Next Monday our schools will return to work.
We hope the children, families and staff have had a good rest and can look forward to a great term together.
We especially think of those awaiting GCSE and A Level results, in these strangest of times.
A snapshot of a week seeing the incredible work going on across our community, in businesses, charities and voluntary groups, all adding up to make this a great place to live. So many reasons to be cheerful, and so many reasons to be thankful for the support and care of others.
