Santa's coming to Ashton

Father Christmas will be making his annual visit to Portland Basin Museum in Ashton on Sunday 8 December.

He'll be heading down the chimney and making himself at home in the museum's 1920s parlour, ready to hand out gifts.

Visitors to the event, which runs from 11am to 3pm, can have a go at making Christmas decorations, join in with a free artist-led craft activity and do some balloon-modelling, as well as getting involved in Christmas trails and other fun.

Keep your eye out, too, for the roaming, chattering Christmas trees.

To get you in the seasonal mood, St John’s Band will be playing carols between 1pm and 3pm, as well as the YOU theatre UK Singers children’s choirs at noon.

It costs £5 to see Father Christmas, which includes a gift. Tickets are available from 10.30am on the day - on a first-come first-served basis - for timed slots between 11am-3pm.

Entry to the museum and all the other activities are free.
