'Saved' Denton West Community Centre in volunteer call

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: Bob Rutt and Sue O'Brien outside the centre.

The 'saved' Denton West Community Centre in Dane Bank is appealing for volunteers as it looks to build a bright future.

As previously reported, the centre was threatened with closure if new trustees could not be found, but the community rallied round to secure the centre.

Since February, an Interim Committee has been working hard behind the scenes to upgrade the building and make sure it meets health and safety requirements.

After much effort, the committee believe it is time for the Centre to blossom once again for the community.

But to do this, the centre needs you. There is a rapidly growing programme of activities and events for all ages and your support is needed.

You may be interested in setting up a local group; or you may wish to step forward as a volunteer. You may only have an hour to spare or you may be looking to become more involved; whatever you can offer, your help will be welcomed.

To find out more, the centre is holding a drop-in coffee morning on Cup Final Day - Saturday.

Representatives from the Interim Committee will be at the centre from 10am to midday.

If you can’t make the coffee morning, you can e-mail the centre at: dentonwestcommunitycentre@gmail.com

Dates for your diary at the centre include the following:

• ‘Play On’ -a comedy play by Centre Stage (July 12-15)

• Centre Summer Fair (July 22)

• Cheese & Wine Evening (August 4)

• Denton West Dog Fair (September 17)

• Gin Festival (October 14)

• Halloween Event (October 28)

• ABBA Tribute Night: The Abbarettes (November 10)

• Santa’s Grotto (December 10).
