A charity football match to raise funds for the Tameside Hospital scanner appeal proved a huge success and a fantastic day for all.
A football match and family fun day to raise money for the Tameside Hospital scanner appeal took place over the weekend (Sunday 19 September).
Organised by local fundraising hero Jon Adams, the game saw NHS staff participating in a football match in the hope of raising much-needed funds.
The hospital began their efforts to raise money towards the £1m state-of-the-art equipment in 2019, but fundraisers were halted due to the pandemic.
Jon Adams worked as a porter at the hospital for six years and says he knows just how important the appeal for a CT scanner is.
Opening his own business, Jon's Charity Raffle, he has spent the majority of this year looking to raise money and awareness for various causes.

Speaking after the event, Jon said, "I’d like to thank every single player and also Shaun Vinny Taylor for sorting the hospital team and to Bethany Laura Flint for all her work on the advertising.
"We're so grateful for the referee and linesmen who gave up their time for free and all the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle."
The game ended with a score of 5-2 with Jon's Charity team taking the victory. Over £600 will now go towards the scanner appeal following this event, putting them a step closer to reaching their target.
