Andy Kleek of Monopoly Events opened up “Chute” last night, a new high class bar for Ashton Under Lyne. By his account, this is only a sign of things to come for the town…
Ashton town centre has been making headlines recently for the £20 million revamp of the market. The revamp will signify Ashton taking a step towards becoming a better place for people to visit and enjoy, and with a new bar opening last night things are only looking up.
We spoke to Andy Kleek last night at the soft launch of his new bar on Bow Street to get more information on the bar and what else is in the works.
“I used to come to Ashton 15 - 20 years ago when it used to be one of the go to places to go out. There has been a decline and being a local lad I want to do something about it.”
The bar, titled “Chute”, will to some Manchester locals ring a bell. It was another venue with the same name that was known around the city and beyond for being one of the best house music venues to go to, and Andy wants to keep that reputation alive with his latest venture.
“It’s one of the most iconic bars in Manchester, a lot of famous Manchester DJs were there and it had a great atmosphere. We want to tap into that again and give people a house bar that plays great house music and also has the element of great food and drinks. So people will be able to have the food and then later on it will turn into more of a party venue.”
Whilst the bar is a new horizon for Ashton, it is a chance for Monopoly Events and Andy to show what they do best.
“We have experience running live music and exhibitions in Manchester and all over the world so this is really a chance for us to bring our knowledge and expertise into the town.” Andy said.
Speaking on the future of Chute bar and the future of Ashton, Andy told us “in a few weeks we will be ready to unveil some of the insane things we are doing down here. It’s not just us, but a consortium of investors and people backing the plans. There is some exciting news for Ashton that will put it firmly back on the map as a top place to visit, not just in Manchester but in the world.”
The opening of Chute was a success, with around 100 local business owners coming in to see their new neighbour. And with Andy's claims, it seems Ashton will be undergoing more exciting developments in the coming future.
