Stalybridge Station 'Eggs'cels with Pupils' Easter Artwork

Travellers passing through TransPennine Express’ (TPE) Stalybridge station are being treated to a burst of Easter cheer, thanks to the art creations of local schoolchildren.

Twenty-eight students from Years 3 to 6 at Trinity Christian School have combined the themes of trains and Easter in a collection of vibrant artwork now displayed throughout the station. The artwork was unveiled on Thursday, 3 April, just in time to spring some Easter joy to passengers.

The spirit of Easter is captured with each artwork telling its own unique story of hope and love. Not only did the project give students the chance to showcase their artistic skills, but it also provided an opportunity to learn about the role of the local railway in connecting communities.

As a token of appreciation for their creativity, each student received an Easter egg as a thank you for their hard work.

Andrew Watkins, Community & Development Manager at TPE, shared: “We are delighted to showcase the fantastic artwork created by pupils from Trinity Christian School at Stalybridge station.

“It’s wonderful to see how they’ve creatively combined Easter themes with our railway heritage. The display adds a welcoming and uplifting touch to the station, brightening the journey for our customers.”

Alison Purnell, Primary Art Teacher at Trinity Christian School, added: “Year 3-6 pupils created vibrant artwork that combined the themes of trains and Easter, using a variety of mixed media techniques.

From mono-printing to free-hand designs, their pieces beautifully conveyed the Easter message of hope and love, capturing the spirit of renewal and connection through creative expression.”

The artwork will remain on display throughout the Easter holidays, providing a delightful opportunity for passengers to enjoy whilst travelling through Stalybridge.
