Stalybridge Street Fest has announced it will be returning for its 4th year in early April.
The announcement followed a period of uncertainty for the festival’s future as it faced issues securing funding.
Now, Stalybridge Street Fest has confirmed its return for 2025 after a successful grant application from Tameside Council (TMBC).
In February, the Council submitted an application to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority for £20,000, which has since been approved.
The money will come from the Local Authority Flexible Grant programme, which aims to provide opportunities for local people through work, skills, and enterprise projects in their communities.
First launched in 2021, the Street Fest features live music, global street food, and market stalls across Armentieres Square.
In Tameside Council’s proposal, they said: “The Stalybridge Street Fest is an early evening street food and drink market offering a wide array of hot food, drinks, family entertainment, and live music.
“Since its introduction in July 2021, Street Fest has helped to positively raise awareness of Stalybridge town centre appearing in a number of publications and attracting thousands of additional visitors from Tameside and across Greater Manchester."
Running from 5-9pm on the second Friday of the month, Street Fest is set to return on April 11 until September.
Organisers have also teased a special edition of the festival in November, set to tie in with the annual Christmas celebrations across Stalybridge.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, TMBC's Lifelong Learning and Culture lead, said: "It’s fantastic to have Stalybridge Street Fest back on the menu!
"The event’s success over the past few years really highlights the local pride and community spirit here.
“It’s great to see so many local traders involved, helping us continue to generate real economic benefits for Stalybridge through extra footfall from across Tameside and outside the borough.
“These events bring people together, support businesses, and give our economy a welcome boost helping to showcase everything Stalybridge has to offer visitors.”
