Passengers have been left stranded after yet more cancellations on the Buxton and Glossop railway lines into Manchester Piccadilly today.
Northern have cut all timetabled trains to and from Buxton due to “a member of train crew being unavailable”, with passengers being told to use road transport instead.
The 192 bus will accept train tickets for travel between Manchester and Hazel Grove, although not on the 199 Skyline bus from Buxton to Stockport.
There is no dedicated rail replacement bus.
Services to and from Hadfield and Glossop are only running once every 90 minutes, with no direct alternatives for reaching the city.
However, the 237 bus will run every 20 minutes from Glossop to Ashton, where passengers can use train tickets on the Metrolink into Manchester city centre.
Damien Greenhalgh, the Deputy Leader of High Peak Council, told the Reporter/Chronicle two weeks ago: “It’s so frustrating for so many. This really has to change. Northern need to get their staffing sorted.”
It isn’t just services across the High Peak and Tameside that have been affected, with trains across the Northern network cancelled due to Sundays being outside contracted hours for staff.
