Tameside residents are being reminded that the borough's eight libraries are open as warm, safe and welcoming spaces for all to enjoy.
The libraries have soft seating, free-wifi, and computer facilities where residents can spend their time reading or relaxing. Friendly and helpful library staff can also provide people with a range of advice and support available, especially as colder weather is approaching and energy bills are rising.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Eleanor Wills, said: “Struggles with finances can seriously impact our physical and mental wellbeing, it’s important you reach out for the help that is available to you. We’re here to support you this winter, residents are always welcome at their local library. Libraries are safe and warm spaces for everyone to not only read but relax, but to use free Wi-Fi and computer facilities.
‘’Using our libraries could help you keep your energy bills down this winter. Our helpful staff can also signpost you to local support and advice available if you are struggling with bills, housing, mental health and more. Please do not struggle alone, access the support services that are available to you.’’
Anyone who would like to list their local Tameside building, community groups or organisation as a Warm Welcome Hub can do so by getting in touch with communications@tameside.gov.uk
