Tameside OAPs eligible for £7 million in unclaimed Pension Credits

Tameside Council will hold a series of Pension Credit Roadshows to help the borough’s OAPs claim any benefits they are entitled to.

More than 3,200 senior citizens in Tameside are eligible for around £7 million in unclaimed Pension Credit, which the government makes available to people over the State Pension age who are on low incomes. 

This can include reducing Council Tax bills, help with housing costs, access to the Warm Home Discount Scheme, and lower prices on NHS dentistry, glasses and transport to hospital appointments. 

‘’It’s crucial we provide in-person support in our communities to help people check if they’re eligible for Pension Credit,” said Tameside Council Executive Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr John Taylor. 

‘’If you think you or someone could be eligible, please come along to one of our drop-in information sessions to speak our friendly Welfare Rights team who will be happy to assist you.’’
