Sharon Harris has praised the staff of Tameside Hospital for their conduct and care over mum Audrey Edwards
The NHS is under pressure like never before in its' 75 year history, with underfunding and backlogs from COVID happening across the nation. Tameside Hospital has faced this pressure and has at times come under criticism because of this.
But Sharon Harris, a Tameside resident, has sang the praises of Tameside Hospital and its' staff after her mother Audrey Edwards was taken into hospital. Speaking with Sharon, she told me "They have been amazing for her. She had a fall at home in Ashton and could not get up. We got the ambulance and got her to Tameside, and found out she had broken her femur. She then suffered a heart attack, and had many problems as well."
Audrey was operated on, which Sharon told us "she survived, which at 88 is not easy." The 88 year old suffered a huge ordeal, with multiple different issues arising. But despite all of this, the worst of the ordeal is over thanks to the care of the emergency orthopeadic ward. "Her care has been second to none, from the brewing up staff to the nurses to the auxillary staff. Every single one of them has been amazing. She has had a private room all this time and up to fifteen of us have been able to stay in the room up until ten at night, and they brought in tea and were all amazing."
Support also came from Sharons' dad, who was by Audreys' side throughout the ordeal. Sharon told us about this, saying "I cannot thank my dad enough, they have been married forever and had their anniversary in the hospital."
