The greatest free show on earth returns on Friday (10 June) when Tameside will host the traditional Whit Friday Brass Band Contests.
After two years of silence, towns and villages across the borough will once again echo to the much-loved sound of brass band music.
The event - which is run by the individual contests under the banner of 'The Friends of the Whit Friday Brass Band Contest Committee' - is supported by Tameside Council's Cultural Services Department.
Only nine of the 12 contests that happened in 2019 will take place this year, with Aldwinians Rugby Union ground in Audenshaw, Stalybridge Celtic Football Club and The Albion pub in Dukinfield pulling out.
