Tameside’s new mayor is due to be installed next Tuesday.
Cllr Janet Cooper, who represents the Longdendale ward, will become the 47th civic mayor of Tameside.
However, because of the Covid-19 restrictions the usual annual full council meeting will be taking place remotely.
It means a little piece of history will be made with the mayor’s office changing hands at a virtual event.
Members of the public can watch a webcast of proceedings via the Democracy pages of the Tameside Council website: www.tameside.gov.uk
It is hoped the ceremonial aspects can take place later in the year after lockdown has ended.
Cllr Cooper will be taking over the mayoral chain of office from Cllr Leigh Drennan.
