Police are investigating after a teenage boy was hit by a car and then subjected to a 'vicious and unprovoked' attack by a group of men in Ashton.
At around 7.30pm on Sunday 13 March, Greater Manchester Police received a report that a 15-year-old boy had been assaulted by a group of men on Bentinck Street.
Enquiries established that two vehicles, one described as black and the other as a Mercedes, had pulled up alongside the teenager and his friend on Dean Street.
The victim was then knocked to the floor by the black car before the occupants of both cars got out and repeatedly kicked/stamped on his head and body.
The boy was left unconscious and was taken to hospital. He is continuing to recover.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody for questioning.
DS Ian Parker, of GMP's Tameside district, said: "This was a really vicious and unprovoked assault which left the young man with a bleed on the brain - hopefully, he will make a full recovery.
"We are committed to solving this crime and ensuring all those involved are brought to face justice.
