A Dukinfield man ordered to pay back over £1,000 for damaging property and a Hyde man jailed for carrying a knife in public are among the latest cases heard by Tameside magistrates.

Disqualified from driving

William Alker was caught behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta when he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence, Tameside magistrates heard.

The 39-year-old, of Armadale Road, Dukinfield, admitted the offence which had happened on Yew Tree Lane in the town on June 1 and was ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

He was also disqualified from driving for a further 12 months.

£1,100 costs of damages

Luke Heald has been ordered to pay £1,100 compensation by Tameside magistrates for damaging property to the same value.

The 30-year-old, of Warwick Close, Dukinfield, pleaded guilty to the offence, which had happened at a property in Ashton on August 9 this year.

He was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work plus issued with a restraining order, meaning he must have no contact with the complainant. 

Driver was over the legal limit

A motorist stopped on Mottram Moor was found to be over the drink drive limit, Tameside magistrates heard.

Ryan Wareham pleaded guilty to the offence which had happened on April 10 and was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £250.

The 25-year-old was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

His address was given as Quarry Hill, Huddersfield.

200 hours work

Joel Calderbank must carry out 200 hours unpaid work for filming an individual without consent for the purpose of sexual gratification.

The 35-year-old, of Sherwood Avenue, Droylsden, pleaded guilty to the offence and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the next five years.

He must pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £90.

Parents face fines

More parents have been fined by Tameside magistrates for failing to ensure their children regularly attend school.

Fines of £220 were handed out by the court for the offence, together with associated court costs of up to a further £120 in certain instances.

£2,000 fine for being over limit

Tameside magistrates have fined a motorist £2,000 for being over the drink drive limit.

David Hewitt, 40, of St Albans Avenue, Ashton, pleaded guilty to the offence after being stopped on Broadoak Road on August 5.

The court heard he had 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He was banned from the road for 17 months plus ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £190.

Motorist who failed to stop

Driving without care and failing to stop when indicated to do so by police has cost Rollington Melbourne a total of £239.

The 37-year-old, of Victoria Road, Dukinfield, pleaded guilty to both offences which had happened on April 19 on Shepley Road in Audenshaw.

Appearing before Tameside magistrates, he was fined a total of £120, plus ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

Drove without enough care

Tameside magistrates have fined Iatsham Ali £84 for driving without due care and attention.

He pleaded guilty to the offence which had happened on Lees Road, Oldham, on March 7.

The 29-year-old, of Market Street, Hollingworth, must also pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

Jail term for carrying knife

Hyde man Robert Bevins has been jailed for six months for carrying a knife in public.

Tameside magistrates heard he had a large kitchen knife with him in Abbey Grove, Hattersley, on July 1 this year.

The 29-year-old, of Kingsbridge Avenue, pleaded guilty to the offence and must also pay a £128 victim surcharge.

Fined by court 

Mark Whyte took a vehicle without consent, Tameside magistrates heard.

The 24-year-old, of Parvet Avenue, Droylsden, pleaded guilty to the offence which had happened in the town on July 20.

He also admitted having no insurance cover and driving other than in accordance with his licence.

Magistrates fined him £250 plus ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

His driving licence was endorsed with eight penalty points.

Driving ban

Droylsden driver Benjamin McKeever has been banned from the road for 12 months by Tameside magistrates.

The 29-year-old, of Eastwood Avenue, pleaded guilty to the offence after being stopped on Lord Sheldon Way in Ashton and found to be over the legal drug drive limit.

The offence had happened on March 2 this year.

Magistrates fined him £440 plus ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £44.
