TOG Mind hosts vibrant Open Day with community wellbeing at heart

Tameside, Oldham and Glossop (TOG) Mind hosted a successful Open Day filled with fun, food, and activities at their Wellbeing Hub in Ashton-under-Lyne, drawing attendees with an array of activities promoting mental wellness.

The event featured diverse taster sessions, including a creative writing workshop, mindfulness and yoga sessions, and the unique and calming Chi Ball practice. The day culminated in an engaging quiz.

Caroline Cook, the Wellbeing Coordinator of TOG Mind, said: "We're having a little bit of a taster for people to come in, see what we've got going on. We are doing creative writing, yoga, mindfulness, and arts and crafts, and people are more than welcome to call in, come and see what we do, participate, and learn more about the hub and everything we offer. We also have a community hygiene hub where people can come and pick up sanitary or hygiene products free of charge.

"The Wellbeing hub came in time of covid, especially during the lockdown, when people needed connection and routine. We met every three weeks and simply sat and spoke about what they wanted to say. It was a low-level, no-commitment thing because when one struggles with mental health, they can have good and bad days, committing to something more stressful, something we want to avoid."

TOG Mind's inclusive approach was highlighted by its open invitation, allowing anyone to drop in and experience the taster sessions. Overall, a successful and praiseworthy initiative by the mental health charity promoting mental wellbeing in innovative and enjoyable ways during these difficult times of cost-of-living crisis.
