Stalybridge has a new band making waves in the music industry.

Plastic Heart are a female-fronted indie/alternative rock band managed by Sam Gosling of Stylish Riot.

The band was formed towards the end of 2022 and has already gained a reputation in the Manchester music scene with their catchy melodies, rhythmic bass playing, thunderous drums and powerful vocals.

The band consists of guitarists Zak Hadfield and Jason Shenton, bass player Liv Alara, and drummer Loz Riley.

They are fronted by Huddersfield-born Naomi Schofield whose vocals have to be heard to be believed.

Taking inspiration from bands such as Wolf Alice, and The Cranberries, Plastic Heart made a big statement with their first-ever gig at Rock the Foodbank Festival at The New Stalybridge Labour Club back November 2022, standing out as one of the highlights of the night.

The band are currently based in Stalybridge and use The New Stalybridge Labour Club as their rehearsal space.

They are working hard and taking the time to build a new set of original songs and planning on recording their debut single ‘Gone Red’ in the next couple of months with a view to realising it this summer.

This year is set to be a big year for Plastic Heart with Tameside gigs lined up at Bohemian Lounge in February and The Station in May.

They make their debut on the Manchester music scene in March at Off The Square and will be headlining ‘The Castle’ in the northern quarter in June.

Big things are expected from the band and especially of Naomi whose breath-taking vocals have made her stand out as one to watch in the coming years.

It will be interesting to see what this year brings and if Plastic Heart can take their obvious talent to the next level.

• Plastic Heart will feature at a special music festival fundraiser being held at the New Labour Club in Stalybridge to raise funds for Stalybridge Celtic.

The Bridge Aid Festival will take place on Sunday, February 26, from 3pm-to late with all ticket money donated to Stalybridge Celtic Supporters Association.

Cobain Jones and Alex Spencer and Jacob Reddy Music will also be supporting the fundraiser.
