Update on bank holiday bin collections in Tameside

Tameside Council has given an update on bin collections in the borough for the forthcoming bank holidays.

Bin collections in Tameside are due to run as normal on May Day Bank Holiday (Monday 1 May) but there will be no bin collections on the Coronation Bank Holiday (Monday 8 May).

Households due a green bin collection on Monday 8 May will instead have their bin collected on Tuesday 9 May while households due a black or blue bin collection on Monday 8 May will instead have their bin collected on Wednesday 10 May.

There will be no brown bin collections at all from Monday 8 to Wednesday 10 May (inclusive) to enable crews to catch up with Monday’s green, black and blue bin collections. Brown bins will be collected as normal the following week.

Residents are asked to leave bins out by 7am for collection and park considerately to allow bin wagons access.

A Tameside Council spokesperson said: “Our bin crews work hard throughout the year, including most bank holidays but the we are giving our crews the day off for the Coronation Bank Holiday as this is a one off national occasion and we want them to be able to enjoy the street parties and celebrations. Thanks to residents for their cooperation and we hope everyone enjoys the May bank holidays!”
