Walking from one iconic stadium to another to support Shelter

A local non-profit organisation are tying up their shoes and journeying on an ultra-marathon walk to raise money for a homeless charity.

The Tactics Board, ran by Jordan Ware from Ashton, are adventuring on a 31.1 mile walk from Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium to Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club, over the Easter weekend and are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Shelter.

Taking around 10-and-a-half hours, the extensive walk will see Jordan and the two other volunteers at the Tactics Board covering the entire length from Manchester to Liverpool to raise funds and awareness for Shelter.

Shelter works to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing, helping people to find and keep a home for good. They help millions every year struggling with bad housing and fundraising events such as these aid them to do this.

Established in May 2020, The Tactics Board was formed after Jordan was left with extra time due to losing his job in the pandemic.

He said: "I had wanted to do it for years, but I had never had the free time to do it before."

The organisation works as an online football resource, helping to develop the knowledge of football through a variety of content. With session plans, generated posts and content to benefit players and teams, the group carry out an amazing level of volunteered posts to bring as much help as possible to those who need it in the beautiful game.

After noticing the issue of homelessness in Tameside and speaking with a friend who works at Shelter, Jordan decided that a fundraising event to raise money for this vital cause was the right thing to do and began planning the adventure across the cities.

The fundraising page is currently at £885 and the group are hoping for one last push of donations before embarking on their walk.
