It's National Libraries Week from 4 to 11 October, with Tameside libraries poised to play their part in the celebration with several events.

All are free and inclusive taking place in safe, community spaces.  

• October 4 - Matt Goodfellow, children’s author and poet, 10.30am and 1.15pm, Droylsden Library.

•  October 5 - Meet the Author - Kerry Wilkinson, 7.15pm. Kerry will be in conversation from Canada via the magic of Zoom. Booking required. See tamesidelibraries.eventbrite.co.uk to book or call 0161 342 2031. Kerry has had number one crime bestsellers in the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Singapore. He has also written two top-20 thrillers in the United States. His book, Ten Birthdays, won the RNA award for Young Adult Novel of the Year in 2018 and Close To You won the International Thriller Award for best ebook in 2020. As well as his million-selling Jessica Daniel series, Kerry has written the Silver Blackthorn trilogy.

•  October 6 - 10-11.15am - Droylsden Lively Minds Club (in-person). The first in-person event since March 2020. Mark Llewellin will host a morning of fun and laughter.

• October 7 -  6-7.15pm - Meet the Author - Stacey Halls. Stacey will be talking about her writing, her novels and her historical research. Her first novel, The Familiars, was the bestselling debut of 2019 and was inspired by the Pendle Witch trials. She followed her debut with The Foundling set against the backdrop of Georgian London exploring families, secrets, class, equality and the power of motherhood. Her latest novel, published in June, is Mrs England, a portrait of an Edwardian marriage. In person event, subject to change.

 • October 8 - 10-11am - Zoom Draw Along with Illustrator Steve May. This is a schools-only event with 35 schools taking part to date. Illustrator Steve May has worked widely in children’s books and will be talking about his recent work illustrating ‘Two Terrible Vikings’ by Francesca Simon (of ‘Horrid Henry’ fame) and providing demonstrations.
