Here's our round-up of people across the borough who have appeared before Tameside magistrates in recent weeks.

A motorist found to be over the legal drink and drug drive limit has been jailed by Tameside magistrates.

Thomas Chamberlain admitted both offences, plus further charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and assaulting a police officer.

He pleaded guilty to the drink and drug driving charges but denied the other two, although he was subsequently found guilty of these by the court.

All of the offences related to an incident on Lodge Lane in Dukinfield in February last year, when he was found to have 92 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 35.

He was also found unfit to drive through drugs.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to surrender to court last month.

Magistrates jailed the 27-year-old, of no fixed abode, for a total of 34 weeks. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Other motorists appearing before the court for drink or drug driving related offences included the following:

Banned driver Kristyan Pearson was almost twice over the legal drink drive limit when stopped behind the wheel of a BMW, Tameside magistrates heard.

The 38-year-old, of Bunkers Hill Road, Mottram, admitted charges of driving while disqualified, over the limit and without insurance when he appeared before the court.

Magistrates were told he had been stopped on Castle Street in Stalybridge on November 17 last year and found to have 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

However, he escaped going to jail, being handed a 16 weeks prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

But he was banned from the road for a further four years and was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £122.

Denton driver Craig Hine has been banned from the road for four years by Tameside magistrates for being more than three times over the drink drive limit.

The 29-year-old, of Silverdale Avenue, pleaded guilty to the charge after being stopped on Matley Lane in Stalybridge on November 24 last year.

The court heard he was found to have 109 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35. Magistrates ordered him to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work, plus pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £90.

Ibraaz Shafique, 21, of Camberwell Street, Oldham, has been banned from driving for two years by Tameside magistrates.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to provide a specimen when ordered to do so. 

He also admitted an offence of driving without due care and attention and not having the necessary insurance cover.

The offences related to an incident on May 28 last year on Denmark Street in Oldham.

Magistrates ordered him to carry out 150 hours unpaid work, plus handed him an eight week-long curfew, meaning he must remain at his address between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night.

He must pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85.

The driving disqualification can be reduced by six months if a driving course is successfully completed.

Lewis Hughes, 27, of Castle Street, Hyde, has been banned from driving for one year for being over the drink drive limit.

He pleaded guilty to the charge after being stopped on Stockport Road in Hyde and being found to have 42 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35.

Appearing before Tameside magistrates he was fined £120, plus ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Magistrates fined him a further £120 for not having the necessary insurance cover.

The driving ban can be cut by three months if a driving course is successfully completed.

Tameside magistrates have banned Colin O’Neil from the road for 18 months after hearing he was unfit to drive through drugs.

He was also charged with being in possession of a quantity of diamorphine.

The 48-year-old, of Bishops Walk, Ashton, pleaded guilty to both offences after being stopped in Ulverston last June.

Magistrates fined him a total of £240, plus ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £35 victim surcharge.

Adele Hopkinson, has been banned from the road for 18 months by Tameside magistrates for a charge of drug driving.

The 45-year-old, of Stephens Close, Stalybridge, pleaded guilty to the charge after being stopped in July last year in Wrexham.

Appearing before the court she was fined £180, plus ordered to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £35.

John Doyle has lost his driving licence for 14 months after failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so.

The 53-year-old admitted the offence after being stopped in Ashton on December 2.

Appearing at Tameside magistrates he was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work, plus pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.

Doyle was banned from the road for 14 months although the disqualification can be reduced by almost four months if a driving course is successfully completed.

His address was given as c/o Forrest Road, Denton.

A 15-year-old boy has been referred to Tameside Youth Offender panel for 12 months under an intensive referal order for sex offences.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to three charges of raping a boy under the age of 13 and also the sexual assault of a ten-year-old boy.

Two of the charges related to incidents on Christmas Eve, 2018, and the other two charges dated back to 2017. 

The youth must sign the sexual offenders’ register for 30 months.

Paul Evans, 48, of Chelwood Drive, Droylsden, has been fined a total of £1,320 for riding a motorbike without due care and attention or insurance.

The court found him guilty of the offences which had happened in June last year in his absence.

They also banned him from the road for six months.

Magistrates also ruled that he must pay court costs of £120 and a victim surcharge of £66.

Colliding with a crash barrier on the M60 and failing to report the accident has cost a driver more than £1,300 at Tameside magistrates.

The court heard Egidijus Simkus, 29, of Barmouth Walk, Oldham, collided with the barrier on the M60 at Junction 22 on August 17 last year.

Appearing before magistrates, he admitted charges of driving without due care and attention, damaging the barrier and failing to report an accident.

Magistrates fined him £415 for each of the three charges, plus ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £41 victim surcharge - a total of £1,371.

His driving licence was endorsed with nine penalty points.

Teenager Martin McDonagh caused £300 damage to windows at an Oldham property last October, Tameside magistrates were told.

The 19-year-old admitted the offence and was ordered to pay £300 compensation, plus pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.

Magistrates also gave him an eight weeks curfew order, meaning he must remain at his Chelsea Road, Newton Heath address between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night.

Constantin Stan, 50, of Harper Street, Coppice, Oldham, has been banned from the road for 12 months by Tameside magistrates.

He admitted a charge of driving while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence and without insurance.

The offences happened on November 11 in Oldham.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, plus pay £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Oldham man Remus Petrovici has been fined £300 for driving without insurance and obstructing a police officer.

The 23-year-old, of Prince Edward Avenue, admitted both charges which had happened on December 6 last year. 

Tameside magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £35 victim surcharge for the offences.

Simon Hawe, 37, has been fined £60 by Tameside magistrates for stealing an electric toothbrush from Sainsbury’s in Ashton.

He pleaded guilty to the offence which happened in August last year. He must pay £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge. 

His address was given as c/o Stamford Street in Stalybridge.

Denton man Christopher Hughes must carry out 150 hours unpaid work for producing a quantity of cannabis, Tameside magistrates have ruled.

The 36-year-old, of Ash Road, admitted the offence which had happened in February last year. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85.

Tameside magistrates handed Derek Robinson a suspended jail term for breaking court orders.

The 36-year-old, of St Martin’s Road, Oldham, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching the order and one charge of harassment by contacting an individual he was meant to have no contact with.

The offences related to incidents last November.

Magistrates gave him a 12 weeks prison term, suspended for 12 months, plus issued him with a four weeks curfew order, meaning he must remain at his address between the hours of 8pm and 7am each night.

He must also pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £122.

Stacey Dockerty assaulted a police officer last August, Tameside magistrates were told.

The 29-year-old, of Birch Avenue, Hollins, Oldham, pleaded guilty to the offence plus a further charge of failing to surrender to custody.

She was fined £54 for each offence plus ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge - a total of £275. 

Philip Jones, 33, of Fitzroy Street, Millbrook, Stalybridge, has been fined £40 by Tameside magistrates for being drunk and disorderly.

He admitted the offence which had happened in Stalybridge town centre last November 24.

He must also pay £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Daniel Toon, 33, of Waterhouses Street, Audenshaw, must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work for two charges of assault.

He admitted the offences, which had happened last October, when he appeared at Tameside magistrates.

He must pay a total of £100 compensation, plus £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Tameside magistrates have fined Billy Halliwell £100 for failing to comply with court orders. He admitted being in breach of the orders. 

The 26-year-old’s address was given as Whitworth Close, Ashton.

Tameside magistrates have fined a number of Oldham residents for failing to dispose of litter and flytipping. Fines of up to £490 plus additional costs of up to £350 were given out.
