Willow Wood's new fast and free furniture collection

To help make the most of every donation, Willow Wood Hospice’s charity shops have a new system for furniture collections.

The Hospice’s furniture donation vans have been given a much-needed makeover after looking a little worse for wear previously.

The fleet now feature details of the updated donation process and will be hitting the roads around Tameside and Glossop to make collections smoother and swifter.

The previous system was that donors had to call and arrange a pick-up, but now in a more streamlined and efficient process Paul King, the warehouse and logistics manager and his team can be contacted directly.

The team now ask for more information about donations as they sadly can’t accept everything.

The new process also helps the Hospice’s team make the best use of space at the donation centre, plan collections more effectively and get donations into shops quicker!

Paul said: “It’s all about better stock distribution, smoother sales and faster collections.

“Plus, we’ve simplified the booking system, so it’s now easier than ever to donate! We introduced a WhatsApp function which is already been a game-changer, letting people send photos and a description of their donation for a quicker response.

“From first contact to collection, the whole process can now be wrapped up in as little as three days, depending on what suits the donor – making it faster, simpler and more efficient for everyone!”

Willow Wood Hospice is a leading provider of free, specialist palliative care for patients with any life-limiting illnesses in Tameside and Glossop, the Hospice needs at least £3.6 million every year to run.

There are many ways that people can support the Hospice including making donations, volunteering, organising or supporting fundraising events and donating or buying goods at the charity shops.

To donate furniture, you can send images and a description of your items with your name and address via WhatsApp on 07549275158. Or you can send your images and fill out a simple form at https://willowwood.org.uk/furniture-collection/ .

If you are unable to send photographs, then the team can range collection on 01616694849.
