Wrap Up Tameside's sole aim is to collect winter coats and fleeces, as well as scarves, winter hats and gloves, for distribution to charities supporting people across the UK who struggle to keep warm during the winter months.
The local campaign, being organised by Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club, is part of the wider Wrap Up UK initiative and will run during October and early November. All the items collected will be donated to Tameside Women’s Centre and local homeless projects.
Coats must be warm and suitable for the winter. Anyone wishing to support this important campaign can drop their donations off in collections boxes at the following locations:
- Together Centre, Birch Lane, Dukinfield
- St George’s Church, Church Walk, Stalybridge
- Reach Church, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge
- Stalybridge Junior Football Club, Mossley Road, Ashton-under-Lyne
- Stalyhill Junior School, Hereford Way, Stalybridge
- Mossley Sub Post Office, Manchester Road. Mossley.
Club President, Martin Daglish, said: “This is another example of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club engaging with the local community whilst making a positive impact on the lives of people in our neighbourhoods.
"As residents struggle with the cost of living crisis we are very keen to offer support to local families struggling to keep warm in their homes.
He continued: "Last year the Club dropped off over 200 winter coats at the Tameside Women’s Centre and provided a further 150 coats for local Homeless projects from the Wrap Up Tameside Campaign.
"These were distributed to individuals and families who were in desperate need of a winter coat. “
