A 57-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with alleged abuse sent to Ashton and Failsworth MP Angela Rayner.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications on Friday morning (11 March), after officers from Greater Manchester Police and Nottinghamshire Police attended an address in the Hucknall area of Nottingham.
She remains in custody for questioning.
The arrest is in connection with alleged abusive emails sent to Ms Rayner, who is the deputy leader of the Labour Party, on Saturday 19 February.
It is the fifth arrest that GMP has made as part of the investigation into abuse targeting Ms Rayner, with three men being charged and one man being convicted.
Enquiries remain ongoing, GMP has said.
