Police are investigating after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a hooded man whilst walking her dog in a field in Ashton.
Greater Manchester Police say they received a report of a sexual assault, that happened in a field near Smallshaw Lane, at around 4.30pm on Monday afternoon (2 January).
A woman, in her 60s, was walking her dog in the field when she was approached by an unknown male.
He has been described as a man in his 20s, of slender build and around 5 foot 10/11" in height. He is said to have been wearing all dark clothing, with a hood over his head and a snood covering his nose and mouth, giving a partial view of his face.
GMP say officers are following up a number of enquiries and are appealing for the public's help in identifying the man.
Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt said: "Our specialist officers are supporting the victim at this time and we want to do all we can to locate the offender.
"You will see officers out and about on foot over the next couple of days, making enquires and offering reassurance to the community as we move forward with this investigation.
"It is believed that another member of the public was in the field at the time of the assault. If you believe you are this person, please do get in touch as you may be able to help us with our investigation.
"We appreciate that the description of the offender is very limited, however, we are hoping that someone may have witnessed this incident or may have information that can help us.
