Raine Harla

From Monday March 24th onwards, artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature is Raine Harla. Raine, from Stockport, has always had a great joy for music. She first sang publicly in her Primary School talent show where she won her first trophy for her voice, and then as a young teenager she attended a local Theatre School where she earnt the most prestigious award for her outstanding vocal abilities. As an independent alternative Singer Songwriter, Raine started creating her own music at the age of 11, when she began to learn to write songs on her first keyboard. At the age of 16, she released her debut single 'Starry' which became a finalist in The 2023 Song Academy’s Young Songwriter competition. The single was streamed over 2000 times in 55 countries. Since then, she has released singles 'Headache', 'The Magpie Song', and more recently, 'I Hate You More', which saw Raine receive a highly commended certificate for her songwriting abilities and a rare special mention in the BRIT International Songwriting competition 2024 in the Rock and Indie category. Raine attended Manchester’s BIMM college (British and Irish Modern Music) on the Singer Songwriting Diploma course and is now currently studying a degree in music at Salford University. Now 18 years old, Raine has gained a good following and fanbase thanks to her stunning and distinctive vocals, as well as huge respect for writing and producing all of her own music. She also plays the piano and ukulele, and is currently learning to play the electric guitar. Raine performs her original music regularly across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Derbyshire at festivals, gigs and open mic nights. Along with her band of session musicians, she has performed full sets at the 'One World Festival', 'Eat in the Park', and headlined the 'Torrs Youth Festival'. As well as this, she has performed sets at many well-known and respected venues, such as Retro, Band on the Wall and The Bread Shed in Manchester and Bask in Stockport. Raine’s influences include artists from the alternative rock and indie world such as Radiohead, Deftones, Muse and Paramore. Raine aspires to follow in the footsteps of the powerful female singers she admires, such as Billie Eilish and Hayley Willams, and rising international stars such as UPSAHL. Raine’s summer performances are in the final stages of being confirmed, and her new unreleased music is currently being recorded and produced, which will include powerhouse rock and atmospheric dark orchestral ballads. Alongside her own music, Raine is about to finish her first year on the Popular Music and Recording Degree at Salford University and will continue homing her skills by performing across Manchester’s vibrant music scene. You can follow Raine on instragram at raineharlamusic, and her released music is available on all usual streaming platforms.
