The Valleys
From Monday April 14th onwards, band of the week on Local Music Spotlight are The Valleys. The Valleys are a four-piece band named after the Clone and Holme Valley, and a beer produced by the Riverhead Brewery. They have a sound which consists of strong rhythm guitar, tasteful lead guitar, energetic harmonica, heavy bass, angelic piano, and tight, ecstatic drums. The songs have rich, emotional storytelling lyrical content and pumping layered harmonies that create a sense of euphoria for listeners. Their music is planned to 'draw from the greats before us and strive to create something akin to this modern world'. The band bring a fresh combination of rock, jazz, hip-hop and folk music to their songs, and are influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, with the band all sharing a common love for what they feel this generation is looking for and hope to inspire for many generations to come. Since forming, the band have already made a big noise on the unsigned music scene. They are a brilliant live band and have sold out venues and performed at many gigs including at venues in Manchester, Huddersfield, Edinburgh, Cork, Kendal, Bangor, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and many more. Tracks released so far include 'Better Off', 'What Goes Up', and 'Baby Baby', with more releases and gigs planned for later this year.
