Carnival fun fills Glossop's Manor Park once again

Manor Park was the place to be over the weekend with the two-day Glossop Carnival attracting its usual large crowds.

People flocked to the Saturday and Sunday showtime that had everything from a dog show to big band music - and a whole lot more beside.

Organisers GALA (Glossop Arts and Leisure Association) might be small in number but they believe in doings things big.

Secretary Jean Ratcliffe was delighted with the response from carnival lovers who packed into the park, saying: “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, especially the music of Arnfield Brass and Regent Big Band and the dancing from Centre Stage.”

Another huge attraction was the fun fair and there were lots of sideshows and food and drink franchises to keep people refreshed.

Jean said the response from visitors made all the hard work in organising the event worthwhile.

And she revealed that, after a short rest, GALA would start planning Carnival 2023.
