Organisers 'delighted' as Hayfield Apple Day makes welcome return

Making a welcome return last weekend was Hayfield Apple Day and Autumn Fair, which saw nearly 1,000 people attend the afternoon of fun.

Cath Moss, Chair of Sustainable Hayfield, the event’s organisers, said she was ‘delighted’ with the turnout after last year’s enforced absence due to Covid.

“We didn’t know how many people to expect, this was the first significant village event since the end of lockdowns. But almost 1,000 people visited Apple Day in the course of the afternoon. We could not have asked for more.”

A wide selection of stallholders and exhibitors took part in the event which had plenty of attractions for all the family.

Cath said it was great to see people meeting up with friends and neighbours in a way that had not possible for such a long time.

“We were also delighted to welcome a greater number of people from further away, who’d heard of the event via print and social media. There was a lot of interest in what was going on.”

Apple Day is an event which tries to provide a range of fun activities for all ages but also offers displays and stalls designed to encourage more responsible, and healthier, approaches to everyday living.
