Couple donates thousands to charities in memory of their loving daughter

Following the spectacular success of the 3-4-1 Charity Ball, Dilip and Daksha Mistry were invited to the Mayor’s Parlour in Oldham to celebrate their fundraising efforts. They donated their raised sum of £15,450 to their pledged charities, Meningitis Now, Dementia UK and Dr Kershaw's Hospice, during the event.

The Civic Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Zahid Chauhan OBE, hosted the event. The Deputy leader of Oldham Council, Councillor Shaid Mushtaq and Councillor Jenny Harrison were also present at the event.

Daksha and Dilip Mistry, owners of the Indian spice and curry brand My Masala Guru, which had won the Tameside Business Awards 2023, organised this fundraiser at the end of last year in memory of their daughter, whom they had lost to Meningitis.

They have recognised the efforts of their internal staff and also various other organisations for their support in making the Black-tie charity event a success.

Hema Mistry and Dylan Mistry’s efforts in overall business support were recognised, and the volunteer teams and sponsors were presented with certificates. The Mayor presented appreciation certificates to performers from the event, Natraj Dance Academy, Jayne Barnes School of Dance, and Oldham Council Music Service.

Dilip & Daksha said: “This is so important to us at My Masala Guru as we have supported this event since our infancy, and despite several personal challenges, we have made it happen and couldn’t be prouder.

“We thank you all for your support, whether directly involved or attending our cookery classes and buying products. All of this culminated in where we are today, which will make a huge difference in other people's lives.”
