Revealed: Winners of Ashton Independent Business Awards 2022

Ashton Town Team and Bromleys Solicitors LLP are delighted to announce the winners of this year's Ashton Independent Business Awards.

Starting back in 2020, the awards have consistently recognised many of the quality, independent retailers in the town centre.

The first award to be presented was Sponsors Choice and Bromleys Solicitors were delighted to recognise The Petman on Stamford Street.

The business has been in Ashton for over 45 years providing a range of items/accessories for pets and fishermen.

This year’s winner for Fashion and Footwear went to Seraphina on Stamford Street which has grown in popularity over the years.

Fresh Food award had three finalists from Ashton Market with the winner Briggs Butchers who launched a delivery service during the pandemic.

We know our Specialist Retail is an important award that recognises many businesses who focus on a particular market. This year it was wonderful to award JRS Collectables on Market Avenue.

One of the most competitive categories for 2022 was Hair and Beauty and it was great to recognise the customer service and hard work by the team at Hair By Jodie.

Ashton market business Market Grounds Coffee took the title of Market Trader in the awards with the Restaurant/Take Away award going to Tarps in the Market Hall.

For the category Flowers, Gifts and Cards a popular winner was Jacky’s Floral Designs on the Market Ground.

Winning the café category is relative newcomer to the town Food & Thorn with their bistro located alongside the Seraphina Centre on Stamford Street.

The Jewellers category was won by Gems jewellers at Ashton Indoor Market.

The final award was presented by the Town Team to Sincerely Yours Cards & Gifts on Market Avenue in recognition of their quality work and popular Christmas grotto attracting shoppers each year.

Mark Hirst, senior and managing partner at Bromleys Solicitors, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the awards once again this year after their continued success since the launch in 2020. Independent retail has faced unprecedented challenges after the pandemic, and supporting small businesses is more important than ever.

"The Petman has been a staple in Ashton Town Centre for 45 years and this award deservedly recognises this family-run business. Their passion for pet supplies and prominent position in the heart of Ashton is inspiring and mirrors our own values here at Bromleys.”

Chair of Ashton Town Team, Kevin Taylor BEM, said: “The awards have shown again how important small businesses are in our town centre. In particular, it’s rewarding to see how many great quality businesses we have at Ashton Market that people support. I’d like to thank all those who voted and also a massive thank you to Bromleys Solicitors yet again for sponsoring this year’s awards.”
